Fuel Up and Get Lost: 5 Indiana Road Trips Worth Taking This Summer ☀️🚗

Summer is finally here, and if you’re anything like us, you’re looking for an excuse to get out of the house, roll the windows down, and take a drive.

The good news? You don’t have to leave Indiana to find incredible views, hidden gems, and unforgettable adventures. Some of the best road trips in the Midwest are right in our backyard.

As a local repair shop, we spend a lot of time helping people get where they’re going. So we thought we’d share a few of our favorite Indiana destinations for your summer bucket list.

And yes… we’re putting our hometown favorite at the top of the list. 😊

🌊 1. Clifty Falls State Park

Let’s start with the obvious choice.

Clifty Falls isn’t just one of Indiana’s best state parks, it’s one of the most beautiful places in the state, period.

From rushing waterfalls and rugged hiking trails to breathtaking overlooks, there’s something special about standing at the edge of a cliff and taking in the view. Whether you’re an experienced hiker or just looking for a peaceful afternoon outdoors, Clifty Falls has a trail for you.

The best part? When you’re done exploring, you’re just minutes away from historic downtown Madison, where you can grab lunch, browse local shops, or reward yourself with a well-earned ice cream cone.

If you’ve never visited, put it on your summer list.

If you’ve been there before, you already know why it’s number one.

🏖️ 2. Indiana Dunes National Park

Most people don’t think “beach day” when they think of Indiana.

They’re missing out.

With miles of shoreline along Lake Michigan, Indiana Dunes feels like a completely different world. Spend the day hiking the dunes, relaxing on the beach, or watching one of the most beautiful sunsets you’ll find anywhere in the Midwest.

🥾 3. Turkey Run State Park

Turkey Run is for the adventurers.

Think suspension bridges, sandstone gorges, ladders, creek crossings, and trails that make you feel like you’ve stepped into another era.

Just don’t wear your brand-new white shoes.

You’ll thank us later.

🌄 4. Brown County State Park

Known as the “Little Smokies” of Indiana, Brown County is packed with scenic drives, rolling hills, and small-town charm.

It’s the perfect destination for anyone who enjoys beautiful views, local restaurants, and exploring unique shops. Even the drive there is part of the experience.

🏨 5. French Lick

French Lick has a little bit of everything.

History, golf, great food, family activities, and some of the prettiest countryside you’ll find in southern Indiana.

It’s the kind of place that makes for a perfect weekend getaway without requiring hours of travel.

🔧 Before You Hit the Road

A great road trip starts with a reliable vehicle.

Before heading out on your next adventure, take a few minutes to check:

✅ Tire pressure

✅ Engine oil

✅ Coolant levels

✅ Battery condition

✅ Brake performance

✅ Air conditioning

Because the only thing that should be overheating this summer is the pavement, not your!
